Brief Company Profile

Coates Toners are part of Sun Chemical, the World's largest manufacturer of high quality printing inks and organic pigments. Sun Chemical is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dainippon Ink & Chemicals, a major Japanese international chemical company.

Our company is a leading independent manufacturer of Toners with two production centres for the manufacturer of these non-impact imaging materials. The first is located at Midsomer Norton, England and is the corporate headquarters and centre for research and development. The site has production facilities that incorporate the latest processing equipment, making it one of the most effective and flexible manufacturing centres of its type in Europe. The second Coates Toners facility is situated in Dallas, Pennsylvania, USA. These both have “state of the art” production capability and have established our company as a leading independent supplier of toner.

Quality

Coates Toners recognise that technical skills and innovation alone have not secured its position as one of the major independent toner producers. In March 1990 the company received ISO9001 for our UK operation and in December 1997 the Dallas subsidiary achieved ISO9002.

The continuous quality improvement systems now enshrined by the “Total Quality” philosophy are reflected in the company’s recognition of the importance of quality to its customers – this resulted in the achievement of ISO9001:2000 for the UK operations in March 2002; our USA site achieved ISO9001:2000 in October 2003.

ISO9001:2000 represents a significant upgrade to the standard for quality systems that is designed to ensure the provision of products and services that consistently meet customer requirements and continual improvements of customer satisfaction levels. Coates Toners recognises the importance of minimising the effect of its operation on the environment and achieved accreditation to ISO14001 in 1998, for the main manufacturing site at Midsomer Norton.

Toners

Coates Toners has been developing and manufacturing liquid, mono-component and two-component toners for almost 30 years. In this time the company has demonstrated its ability to develop and manufacture products that meet critical and exacting requirements. We have significant experience in the formulation of speciality products such as MICR toners.

The development of new quality products for use with digital print-on-demand technologies, including mechanically produced colour toner are exciting opportunities.

The most recent innovation in colour has been the introduction of toners produced by a chemical process (CPT), rather than the traditional mechanical pulverisation method (MPT) and our range now includes chemically produced toners (ChemiColour) for use in applications that require CPT for optimum performance.
